In 2003, Lizzy was commissioned by Worcestershire County Council with Countryside Services to create a semi-permanent artwork at Waseley Hills Country Park on the outskirts of Birmingham.
This short time-lapsed film documents the creation of a huge landscape drawing. The outline of a butterfly native to the site, the Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui), is marked out with ribbon and sand and then etched into the hillside with a turf-cutter.
Children from Beaconside Primary School, who assist in the making of the artwork, then temporarily create vibrant wing patterns on the butterfly with coloured fabrics and found objects.
